Optimum Aluminium Filtration for Spinal
Radiography
DONALD K. FREEMAN and REG T. POOLE
Measurements of exposure to produce constant radiographic density as
a function of added aluminium filtration indicate that the optimum value
for spinal radiography at 85 kVp is 4 mm. The optimum total aluminium
filtration (inherent plus added) indicated is 5 mm. These values of
aluminium filtration result in minimum patient exposure, no decrease in
radiographic quality and only a relatively small increase in x-ray
generator power.

Posture in the Assessment, Diagnosis and
Treatment of Chronic Low Back Pain
RICHARD A. AMES
The use of posture in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of
chronic low back pain is reviewed. Discussion includes the observation-
and instrument-assisted assessment of static posture, differential
diagnosis of postural variations, explanation of some common
biomechanical derangements and their causes and treatment of postural
deviation using spinal manipulative therapy and conscious control
methods. Postural variations and treatment modalities and methods are
classified.

Selection of a Career in
Chiropractic
JENNIFER R. JAMISON
Reasons for selecting chiropractic as a career appear to be universal
rather than local. Australian chiropractic students, whether in funded
or non-funded programmes, select similar career variables to their
counterparts in America.
INDEX TERMS: CHIROPRACTIC; CAREER.
