Advocacy Platform
The CAA and its state associations advocate on behalf of:
1. Chiropractic care, the chiropractic profession, and the patients
chiropractors help.
2. The Australian population, to ensure they have cost effective,
equitable, high quality and safe healthcare.
This is done through a variety of strategies including lobbying
politicians, working with peak health and consumer organisations to
drive health reform and negotiations with health funds.
The CAA’s advocacy strategy involves:
- Establishing the legitimacy of the chiropractic profession in health
policy circles
- Becoming a part of, and a voice within the reform of the health
system
- Shifting the focus of the healthcare system from acute care in
hospitals to effective primary care
- Advocating and lobbying for two pathways of primary care – the
GP disease model and the allied health wellness model
- Arguing that chiropractic care is the core of the wellness pathway
– specifically through the future up skilling of practitioners
through the adoption of value added chiropractic services
The CAA has worked
actively with health bodies, such as Allied Health
Professions Australia, to be a part of efforts to enhance
the collaboration between health care professionals in primary care. The
CAA was a collaborator in the Chronic Disease Management
initiative coordinated by AHPA and funded by the Australian
Better Health Initiative.
