National Chiropractic Care Week 2008

NCCW is the CAA’s flagship community service initiative and is held during the first week of May each year. The campaign is designed to raise awareness of important health issues affecting Australians, and how chiropractic care plays a vital role in fostering wellness.

CAA members from across Australia participate in NCCW each year, and provide their patients and community with educational resources designed to educate and provide practical advice on healthy lifestyles.

ImageDuring National Chiropractic Care Week 2008, the Chiropractors’ Association of Australia (CAA) highlighted the importance of sleep on everyday life, and offered specialist advice to help Australians "get straight to sleep", by choosing comfortable mattresses and pillows to avoid spinal health problems.

NCCW 2008 also saw the CAA conducting national market research into the sleep habits of Australians.

Alarmingly, The ‘Get Straight to Sleep’ research project found that nearly one in four Australians (24%) had used painkillers to get to sleep, while 12% had used sleeping tablets and 9% had used other drugs or medicine. The research also found that 40% of Australians suffer back pain during the day, at night or wake up with back pain.

Not only are chiropractors the spinal health care experts, they are also five year university qualified to provide drug free care and a range of specialist advice on how to get straight to sleep, including mattress and pillow selection, nutrition and exercise.
