About the RIHG
The Rural and Indigenous Health-Interest Group (RIHG) is a special
interest group of the Chiropractors’ Association of Australia
(National).
The RIHG was formally established in 2005 to represent the special
needs of chiropractors and the rural and indigenous communities they
served throughout Australia.
The special health needs of rural and indigenous communities have
been well-documented. A substantial proportion of chiropractors live and
work in rural Australia, providing chiropractic care as well as
promoting the general health and well-being of their communities in
private practice, community groups, as well as multidisciplinary
teams.
This commitment to rural and indigenous health has also occurred
through the voluntary health services of its community outreach
organisations including Hands on Health Australia, Spinosaurus, and
Healthy Spines.
The aims of the RIHG are to:
- Provide effective channels of communication amongst chiropractors
working in rural, remote and indigenous communities, the CAA as well as
state and territory branches
- Advocate on behalf of chiropractors and the communities that they
serve
- Establish links with other health professions, government and
non-government organisations to promote the availability of skills,
knowledge and resources for chiropractors in order to improve the
delivery of care in these communities
We are looking for members of our profession that serve rural and
remote communities and are interested in providing their leadership and
support for this evolving work.
